Language ability is one of the most important parts of an Express Entry profile. The Comprehensive Ranking System awards CRS points for your first official language, and it can also add points for a second official language if you have eligible results in English and French. This calculator converts your CLB levels into the language portion of your CRS score so you can see how much your test results contribute before adding age, education, work experience, job offer, provincial nomination, or other factors.
Choose whether you are applying with or without a spouse, then select the CLB level for listening, reading, speaking, and writing. CRS language points are awarded per ability, so a single lower skill can reduce your total even when the other three skills are strong. The first official language section can reach a higher maximum for applicants without a spouse, while applicants with a spouse use a slightly different points table for the principal applicant.
If you also have test results in Canada's other official language, enable the second language section to estimate those points as well. The calculator also includes the additional French-language bonus when the selected CLB levels meet the CRS criteria. Use the result to compare study goals, retake scenarios, or the potential impact of moving from CLB 7 to CLB 9 or CLB 10. It is not a complete CRS calculator, but it helps isolate the language score decisions you can influence through test preparation.
Points are based on the official IRCC CRS language criteria (June 2026). Verify current rules with IRCC CRS criteria.
