Gisler in a sentence | Use of the word gisler examples

Based on data collected by Los Alamos National Laboratory scientists Galen R. gisler and John M. Patchett, referred to as the Deep Water Impact Ensemble Data Set, these simulations show asteroids of various sizes entering the water from different angles.

It’s all about being prepared.  According to the data set report by gisler and Patchett, NASA is keeping a close eye on asteroids potentially dangerous to Earth.

“If any one in here could live their life like Mitch Petrus every one in here would be a success,” close friend Chad gisler reportedly said at the Sunday memorial service.

For these scientists, the important thing is to get a real conversation around planetary defense started sooner rather than later.“Natural disasters happen all the time,” said Galen gisler of Los Alamos National Laboratory.

Despite the apocalyptic subject matter, the results are quite beautiful.Galen gisler and his colleagues at LANL are using supercomputers to visualize how the kinetic energy of a fast-moving space rock would be transferred to the ocean on impact.

The results, which gisler presented at the American Geophysical Union meeting this week, may come as a surprise to those who grew up on disaster movies like Deep Impact.

Asteroids are point sources, and it turns out waves generated by point sources diminish rapidly, rather than growing more ferocious as they cover hundreds of miles to swallow New York. The bigger concern, in most asteroid-on-ocean situations, is water vapor.“The most significant effect of an impact into the ocean is the injection of water vapor into the stratosphere, with possible climate effects” gisler said.

Indeed, gisler’s simulations show that large (250 meter-across) rock coming in very hot could vaporize up to 250 metric megatons of water.

gisler’s models show that when these “airburst” asteroids strike over the ocean, they produce less stratospheric water vapor, and smaller waves.

“The airburst considerably mitigates the effect on the water,” he said.Overall, gisler says, asteroids over the ocean pose less of a danger to humans than asteroids over the land.

There’s one big exception, however, and that’s asteroids that strike near a coastline.“An impact or an airburst [near] a populated shore will be very dangerous,” gisler said.

In that case, the gigantic, city-devouring tsunami every B-list disaster movie has primed you for might actually arrive.Correction: An earlier version of this post misspelled Dr. gisler’s last name.

There was a worrying moment mid-way through the second round, as Switzerland’s Joel gisler came down hard on the lip of the halfpipe, popping out of his skis and falling into the pipe headfirst.

Fortunately, gisler was able to get to his feet and walk out of the pipe, with assistance from medical staff.

gisler failed to qualify in the top 12.

“If reports are accurate … this is a sledgehammer to the Clean Water Act,” Geoff gisler, a lawyer at the Southern Environmental Law Center’s Clean Water Program, said.

“The path it’s currently on is about as bad as it could be,” said Geoff gisler, who heads up the Southern Environmental Law Center’s clean water program.

That feces is then stored in large open-air lagoons, which gisler said risk overflow with Florence’s massive expected rainfall totals.

“You don’t want hog waste flowing freely for the same reasons you wouldn’t want sewage flowing freely into the river and the house,” gisler said.

But gisler says this solution is inadequate because once heavy rainfall starts, fecal matter spread on farmland will still run off into waterways and seep into groundwater.

“The Obama administration took steps in the right direction and now we’re going backwards,” said Geoff gisler with the Southern Environmental Law Center.

Geoff gisler, an attorney with the Southern Environmental Law Center, called the proposal a “sledgehammer to the Clean Water Act.” “Out of all the anti-environmental attacks we have seen from this administration, this may be the most far-reaching and destructive,” he said in a statement.

Before the Republicans gained the upper hand, North Carolina was “a leader in really thoughtful coastal management,” said Geoffrey R. gisler, a lawyer with the Southern Environmental Law Center.

“A lot of folks who have interests in developing areas that are currently vulnerable, and would become more vulnerable with sea level rise, objected to the public finding out that there was this projected significant sea-level rise,” Mr. gisler said.

“And so the legislature decided to prohibit looking that far out.” Mr. gisler said that while its direct effects were limited, the 2012 law went hand in hand with a broader weakening in the state of environmental regulations that developers had opposed.

Geoff gisler, an attorney for the Southern Environmental Law Center who represents Cape Fear River Watch in litigation relating to direct discharges of PFAS into the river by a Chemours plant, called the plan an “empty gesture for American families and communities.” “While it’s essential that polluters are forced to clean up their existing pollution, EPA must also act to prevent industry from discharging these toxins and endangering people in the first place.

The agency’s plan does nothing to stop ongoing pollution, a role that this administration has abandoned,” gisler said in a statement.

For example, among the waters that will no longer fall under federal jurisdiction are the wetlands along the Ashley River in South Carolina, according to Geoff gisler, who runs the clean water program at the Southern Environmental Law Center.

“Right now, that particular area of the watershed is facing pressures from developers that want to build over streams and wetlands,” gisler said.
